The Equnet / DEP joint symposion, hosted by the Centre for Education Policy Studies at the University of Ljubljana started brought together a panel of experts in equity from throughout the European Union and the Western Balkans.
During the first day, the programme examined the relevance of prevalent concepts of equity for today’s higher education system, as well as the roles of equity-related higher education policies on diversity and society more generally. The second day is continuing with this theme, and also examining specific instruments proposed to increase equity.
In his opening words of the event, Pavel Zgaga, head of CEPS, compared the Symposion to its origins as a key Hellenic social institution. It was a forum for men to debate, plot, boast, or simply to party with others.
Update: Photos and Presentations from the event are now available on the website.
